This week, rugby legend Rassie Erasmus shared a rare public moment alongside his ex-wife, Nicolene, to celebrate their daughter, Nikki’s, graduation – a proud milestone which briefly united the family.
The Springbok coach appeared in photos posted from a joint graduation celebration at Stellenbosch University, where Nikki completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in psychology. Her boyfriend, André-Hugo Venter, also marked the occasion, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
In the images shared online, Nikki is seen posing between both her parents, who smiled for the camera in a show of unity. The moment stood out for fans, as Erasmus and his former wife reportedly ended their more than 20-year marriage in early 2024. Despite the separation, the pair have continued to co-parent their three daughters and have largely kept their personal lives private.
Nikki’s twin sister, Carli, who is also studying for a BA degree, joined the celebrations, while Venter posed alongside his own family, including his father, former Springbok player André Venter. The graduation marked a double celebration for the couple, with both graduates commemorating the academic milestone together.
Erasmus has often spoken about his close relationship with his daughters, occasionally sharing family moments on social media. Two of his children are involved in competitive netball, while Nikki has pursued her studies outside the sporting spotlight.
The family gathering comes amid a busy period for the Bok coach, who remains one of South African rugby’s most influential figures after guiding the national team to Rugby World Cup success and continuing to shape the squad’s long-term plans. While Erasmus is known for his intense focus on rugby, the graduation photos offered a softer glimpse into his life off the field.
Fans were quick to react to the images, praising the family for coming together to celebrate Nikki’s achievement.
“Congratulations. Wonderful Erasmus family. God bless you, Rassie, and your lovely family. Love is the best bond,” one fan wrote in the comment section.
