Saturday Night Live UK has kicked off to a roaring start, with fans hailing the “great success”.
The Sky sketch show, which features 11 rising stars from Britain’s comedy scene, launched last night with a brilliant line-up, following the decades-long success of the American version.
With Tina Fey hosting the first episode, and featuring Wet Leg, the cast included Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, Ania Magliano and Annabel Marlow.
Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, Paddy Young, and George Fouracres complete the line-up, with the latter taking on the role of Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the show’s opening.
The sketch saw Fouracres’ Starmer showcase his nerves before a call with Donald Trump, with fans hailing the scene “brilliant”.

Announcing that he’d be a part of Saturday Night Live UK earlier this year, George shared on social media: “Saturday Night Live UK! Swipe for: the rest of the amazing gang, two seconds after I found out I’d got the job, secretly being in New York before Christmas to watch the show, and the last time I was this excited.
“Thank you to Lorne, Longers, Suzi and all the team for taking a massive punt on a weird theatre goblin. I’ll try and do ye proud.”

Speaking to Variety before the show’s launch, George shared: “I’ve been in love with “Saturday Night Live” since forever. It was my dream job when I was younger because my favorite thing is playing lots of very intense, insane characters, and I love the glamour of late night live TV.
“Seeing clips of “SNL” in the U.S., I always thought “I wish we had that. Why don’t we have something like that?” So the fact that we do now, and I get to be part of it, blows my tiny mind.”
