A disciplined bowling performance led by Trent Boult and Corbin Bosch restricted Texas to a below-par total before Nicholas Pooran guided the chase with a composed unbeaten knock.
The result marked a significant turnaround for MI New York after a difficult start to their campaign. Having fallen short in their opening fixtures, the franchise desperately needed a complete performance, and they delivered exactly that against one of the tournament’s strongest sides. A clinical effort with both bat and ball helped them secure two valuable points and build momentum heading into the upcoming matches.
Trent Boult and Corbin Bosch dismantle Texas Super Kings batting lineup
After winning the toss and electing to field first, MI New York made an immediate impact through Boult. The experienced left-arm pacer struck in the opening over by dismissing Smit Patel and soon removed Rilee Rossouw as well, leaving Texas Super Kings under early pressure. Bosch joined the party by claiming a wicket during the Powerplay as Texas slipped to 47/3 after six overs. Facing a difficult situation, Shubham Ranjane and Milind Kumar attempted to rebuild the innings with a valuable 65-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Milind contributed 39 runs while Ranjane top-scored with 49, falling short of a deserved half-century. However, just when Texas looked set to launch in the closing stages, Bosch produced crucial breakthroughs by dismissing Donovan Ferreira and Wiaan Mulder. Boult finished with impressive figures of 3/18, while Bosch delivered a match-winning spell of 4/29. Their combined efforts ensured Texas Super Kings were bowled out for 158 in 19.2 overs, handing MI New York complete control of the contest.

Nicholas Pooran anchors successful chase for MI New York
Chasing 159, MI New York received the perfect start from Quinton de Kock. The South African wicketkeeper-batter attacked from the outset, striking two boundaries and a six in the very first over to put pressure on the Texas bowlers. Monank Patel also made the most of an early reprieve after being dropped in the third over. He capitalized on the opportunity by scoring a fluent 46 and adding a 49-run partnership with De Kock before stitching another important stand worth 64 runs alongside Pooran.
While wickets fell at the other end, Pooran paced his innings brilliantly. The left-hander began cautiously, ensuring there were no unnecessary risks during the middle overs. Once the target came within touching distance, he shifted gears and accelerated impressively. Pooran remained unbeaten on 68, finishing the chase with authority. His innings included a late flourish that featured three fours and two sixes, helping MI New York reach 162/2 with 14 balls to spare.
