Actor and producer Patrick Muldoon has died at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack, his manager confirmed.
Best known for his role as Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives, Muldoon became a familiar face in the 1990s, later appearing on Melrose Place and starring in films such as Starship Troopers.
Born in California, Muldoon attended the University of Southern California, where he played football before pivoting to acting. His career spanned decades, with roles in series like Saved by the Bell and work behind the scenes as an executive producer on projects including The Card Counter.
Following his death, tributes from colleagues and friends have poured in, painting a picture of a man who was as warm off-screen as he was charismatic on-screen.
“This is such heartbreaking news,” wrote Alison Sweeney, who starred alongside him on Days of Our Lives. “Pat was a rare kind of person, brilliantly talented, endlessly kind and generous in spirit.”
Reflecting on their time working together, she added: “I was so lucky to have worked with him when I first started at Days. He made me feel at ease right away. He brought his unique charm and humour to work every day. A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed.”
Lisa Rinna, who played his on-screen sister, Billie Reed, also paid tribute, sharing a throwback photo of the pair alongside a broken heart emoji on her Instagram Stories.

Actor Jake Getman remembered Muldoon as someone who brought lightness wherever he went. “RIP Patrick Muldoon,” he wrote. “Worked with him when I was 8… a great guy and always kept the energy light.”
Outside of acting, Muldoon had a deep love for music and performed as the lead singer of his band, The Sleeping Masses.
He is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, as well as his parents, siblings and extended family.
