BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday (June 1, 2026) urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to take steps to fill vacancies in government departments. He referred to media reports that about 5,000 government employees attained superannuation on May 31, due to which the vacancies in government departments rose to 40%.
Criticising the erstwhile DMK regime for not having fulfilled its assurance of filling vacancies in the government service, Mr. Nagenthran said even one lakh vacancies could not be filled during the party’s five-year tenure. While the vacancies were on the rise, youth were struggling with unemployment, he contended.
“In this scenario, the TVK government, which is projecting itself as a representative of the youth and an agent of change, should conduct exams and help them realise their dream of getting jobs and aid the smooth functioning of the government machinery. That would be apt for a responsible government,” Mr. Nagenthran said.
