The world’s leading exported product category was electrical machinery and equipment, overtaking mineral fuels including oil since 2022. The electrical machinery category accounted for 16% of overall worldwide sales for all products which totaled US$25.609 trillion for 2025. That percentage for the leading category exceeds the 15% one year earlier.
The most valuable exported products under the electrical machinery and equipment classification are electronic integrated circuits including parts (31.1% of electronics-related items), phone devices including smartphones (17.5%), insulated wire or cable (4.9%), electrical transformers and static converters (4.3%) then electric accumulators including separators (3.9%).
Machinery including computers generated 12.8% of the global exports total, ahead of the mineral fuels including oil product category at 10.6%, then exported vehicles taking a 7.4% share.
Best-selling exported goods considered machinery including computers are led by computers (23.6% of total revenues for category-related items), computer parts or accessories (8.3%), turbojets or other gas turbines (7%) then machines and equipment for manufacturing semi-conductors (4.6%).
Drilling down on all export product categories, those attracting the fastest-growing sales year over year were cocoa (up 35.3% compared to 2024), gems and precious metals (up 35.1%), arms and ammunition (up 32.9%), tin (up 31.5%), coffee, tea and spices (up 26%), fertilizers (up 21.8%), ships and boats (up 17.8%), then machinery including computers (up 16.9%).

In total, the top 20 product groups accounted for over three-quarters (78.2%) of global exports in 2025. The 20 top export product categories increased by an average 13.3% in 2025 compared to 5 years earlier in 2021, an increase below the 15.6% benchmark gain over 5 years for all export product categories.
From 2024 to 2025, the average sales for the top 20 product groups registered a 6.8% upturn which lags the benchmark 7% year-over-year expansion for all categories.
Widening our scope to the latest 5-year period, the greatest percentage sales increases were recorded by arms and ammunition including parts (up 121.1% from 2021), cocoa and cocoa preparations (up 115%), explosives and pyrotechnics (up 66.7%), aircraft and spacecraft (up 62.3%), gems and precious metals (up 62.1%), coffee, tea or spices (up 61.4%), tobacco and manufactured substitutes (up 48.9%), nickel both as materials and items made from nickel (up 45.3%), ships and boats (up 44.4%) then vegetable plaiting materials (up 41.8%).
The severest declining product categories since 2021 were: furskins and artificial fur (down -50.4%), straw manufactures including basketware and wickerwork (down -27.6%), cotton (down -23.2%) then the metals iron and steel (down -23%).
