Some married women in Alberta are facing issues when trying to renew their driver’s licenses, following changes introduced by the province. Alberta resident Christine Orme visited Service Alberta on Aug. 7th, to try and renew her driver’s licence. She brought various types of identification, including her old licence, health card, birth certificate, and old passport, but Orme said it wasn’t enough. “They said because my former married name was on my current birth certificate, I needed to produce my original marriage certificate,” Orme said. Service Alberta is warning drivers to check their documents ahead of time to avoid the same problem. Erik Bay has the story.
