In a speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin reflected on the Soviet Union’s contributions as an Allied power during the Second World War and the “total and ruthless evil” of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany. Putin commended the soldiers fighting tailing in Ukraine, hailing the efforts of Russian “heroes” in what he called “resisting an aggressive force that is armed and supported by the entire NATO bloc.” “I am firmly convinced that our cause is just, we are together, and victory has always been and will always be ours,” Putin said.
