This time, the case of brothers – one of whom is only 14 years old – accused of killing their stepfather causes instant polarisation. The excellent Jason Watkins returns as embattled former detective Huw Miller in the second series of this somewhat hysterical thriller. Huw and his wife, Alice, have retired to a remote coastal home, but the past hasn’t left them behind as letters start to arrive from Robson Green’s imprisoned serial killer, Patrick Harbottle. PH

It’s the concluding double bill of this deeply moving drama about the Sixties Scoop in Canada, when Indigenous children were taken from their families. After reuniting with her twin brother, Esther/Bezhig receives tragic news in the finale – and it brings the Birds back together after so many years. HR
