Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayA Canadian Indigenous chief – Chief Donald Maracle of the Mohawks of Bay of Quinte – has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump after his “unacceptable” act of signing an executive order Thursday that would rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America” in the U.S. “I was outraged by hearing that. I didn't see what good purpose it would serve,” Chief Maracle said in a Friday interview. The First Nations leader went on to say Trump was in “total breach” of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People (UNDRIP), which former president Barrack Obama signed in 2010. UNDRIP would require the U.S. to, as Chief Maracle said, “respect our language, our culture and our history and this land.” Chief Maracle offered grace to Trump, suggesting he may have made a mistake “when he was upset,” but urged the Republican president to issue an apology to Indigenous peoples.
