Tottenham have confirmed the sale of Djed Spence to Inter Milan for a fee of £30 million, bringing to an end a four-year run at the club that included loan spells across three countries, a Europa League winners’ medal and a breakout World Cup campaign.

Spurs released a statement confirming the agreement with the Serie A champions on Saturday, having given Spence permission to travel to Milan earlier in the week.

The defender landed at the city’s airport in the early hours of Friday morning and was filmed by Sky Sport Italia telling onlookers “Forza Inter” as he stepped off the plane.

The deal includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause in favour of Middlesbrough, the club from whom Tottenham signed Spence for an initial £12.5 million, rising to £20 million with add-ons, in July 2022.

Inter replace Denzel Dumfries, who departed for Real Madrid earlier in the summer, with a player whose ability to operate on either flank made him an attractive option for the Nerazzurri’s wing-back system.

Thank you and best wishes for the future, Djed 🤍

Tottenham’s statement read: “We have reached agreement with Internazionale for the transfer of Djed Spence. An arrival from Middlesbrough in July 2022, the defender made a total of 85 appearances in our colours, scoring twice.

“The 26-year-old spent time on loan with Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, Leeds United and Italian outfit Genoa before returning to N17 in the summer of 2024 and helping the team to European glory in Bilbao in May 2025.

“Making his England debut in September 2025, Djed now has 14 caps to his name and featured for his country at this summer’s World Cup as the Three Lions reached the semi-final of the competition. We wish him well for the future.”
