The Canal+ company, Studiocanal, has announced it is launching a new catalogue label called Studiocanal Classics.

This new movie library is home to “the largest library of European feature films and one of the most prestigious film catalogues in the world.”

It comprises more than 9,400 films, spanning 60 countries and covering 100 years of cinematic history. Some of its biggest titles include Rambo, Apocalypse Now, Terminator, Bridget Jones, Basic Instinct, Mulholland Drive, Escape from New York, La Grande Vadrouille and Paddington.

From the library, and hitting cinemas soon, will be Michael Mann’s Manhunter: The Final Cut (Sept 25th), as well as Pan’s Labyrinth and a Jacques Tati retrospective.

In a statement, Anna Marsh, CEO of Studiocanal, said: “We are immeasurably proud to announce Studiocanal Classics today. Our world-class library represents a unique opportunity to champion some of the most beloved, iconic, timeless and influential films spanning more than 100 years of cinema history.

“Through expert restoration, thoughtful curation and innovative audience engagement, we have a responsibility to preserve the enduring impact and cultural legacy of these extraordinary films and filmmakers, while bringing celebrated classics back to cinemas around the world.

“We believe that every generation, in every corner of the world, should have the opportunity to discover, celebrate and revere some of the greatest films ever made. Because great films live forever.”

Studiocanal Classics will soon reveal its 2027 theatrical and home entertainment slate, which will include the release of a highly anticipated David Lynch collection.
