"It was definitely the highlight of my race," Piastri says of the start.

"And it went pretty downhill from there.

"A lot of things to unpack.

"Firstly, the pace on the hard tyres was nowhere.

"And then obviously being taken out by a back marker's never really one of the things you think that can go wrong, but I was proven wrong.

"And then obviously the gearbox, so not the easiest.

"In the moment I was hoping they wouldn't pit Lando in that moment to at least give me the chance to stay in the lead, but I think that's not very reasonable, so I was more very upset in the moment about what had happened, the timing of my pitstop was fine, we wanted to beat Lewis and that's what we needed to do."

"I think Oscar will have already [understood the team didn't hurt his chances]," says Andrea Stella.

"He will see that Lando take the time because of his pace, and to some extent, this loss with the backmarker is just an unlucky situation.

"It's racing, It was fair racing, some of the good racing we saw last year once again, and I just have to thank Oscar and Lando for being so supportive of the team.

"We have to great drivers."

It's been mentioned on the broadcast that there was some issue with the FIA software that shows blue flags.

Lando Norris said that he was shown a blue flag at some stage in the race.

So perhaps that's why Carlos Sainz hit Piastri and didn't give way to him?

"We knew Carlos is such a fair driver, very correct, so if this is happening it means something is not happening correctly," Andrea Stella says.

Andrea Stella is asked about the issues with his drivers and managing their strategies today.

"I think today it was actually great racing," he says.

"It was great to see Lando and Oscar fighting at the start for good position, something that was fair.

"Oscar had his own chance to take the lead and see what pace he might have had.

"And how the race unfolded meant that with Oscar we then covered Hamilton and then there was some situation with the backmarkers.

"Lando was very quick once he had the lead  and he take advantage of this pace and the fact that there was some delay for Oscar.

"That's racing. We are McLaren racing. It was great racing."

Andrea Stella, the McLaren team principle is talking now to Sky Sports.

"It was great to see the car be competitive for a pole position, be competitive for a victory," Stella says.

"Great to see that hard work has been rewarded, thank you for the men and women at McLaren.

"Lando was in condition to squeeze every single millisecond out of the car, which was good enough for the pole position.

"But today the pace was even more encouraging.

"As soon as Lando was in the lead I think he proved a decent margin.

"Obviously quite a lot of work to do on reliability."

He says that the improvement was "a bit of a surprise" but it was suggested in the numbers that there would be an improvement.

Nothing fell for him today.

He did so well to get the early overtake and then every single decision from then on went against him.

Not deliberately, it has to be said, but by pure bad luck.

It's got to be up there.

A very disappointed man, who just didn't get any luck today.

Max Verstappen says he wasn't expecting to be standing on the podium today.

"We worked hard for it," he says,

"Very happy to be second here.

"I saw the opportunity [to overtake Lewis Hamilton] and it was all in control."

Kimi Antonelli is also speaking.

He says he tried to go for a one-stop but was told it wasn't going to work.

"No, not really. Of course I am very happy. This is the best way to go into the summer break," Antonelli says.

"We have to continue to push hard."

Here is Lando Norris.

He is asked what happened at turn two on the opening lap of the race when he lost position to Oscar Piastri.

"I don't know, I'm tired," he says.

"I don't know what happened, to be honest, I kept losing the rear, I had three or four big snaps, it felt horrible.

"And then of course Oscar did a great job to get the cut back and get ahead.

"I think I was just a bit wide in the dirt,

"Game over for the first lap.

"But man I was pushing like hell trying to force him into a mistake or something, my pace today was probably the best pace I've ever had.

"The car was beautiful to drive.

"To get it back in terms of going long, which is certainly not what I was expecting, but the pace allowed me to go long in the stints and the fresh tyres got me the win."

He says that he "hopes" this is the turning point for McLaren's season.

"I want to believe so. Certainly how good it felt today," he says.

"We know this track is a good one for us.

"Maybe this is as good as it can look for us for now."

It's his ninth podium in 11 races this season.

He remains the world championship leader.

He will be out of the running for a podium as a result of this, his second time penalty in as many races.

Hamilton is currently 4.8 seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc, who is in fifth.

While Antonelli is screaming that the back markers are not getting out of his way.

He's right - they are not.

But the battle may be rendered obsolete when the penalty comes through for Lewis Hamilton for speeding in the pit lane.

It's a good battle though.

Hindsight is an incredible thing.

They made a choice to respond to Hamilton's early stop, which was a gamble everyone bought.

Then they can't have considered the collision with Perez.

And Norris did have a faster car - he told his team that he had a faster car and everything since then has proven it.

The gear box going, again, that's unfortunate.
