Former Peruvian president Ollanta Humala says he will sue the Peruvian state and seek an apology over what he considers judicial persecution, after the Constitutional Court dismissed the money laundering case linked to alleged contributions to his election campaigns. Humala, who served from 2011 to 2016, was sentenced in 2025 to 15 years in prison before the court annulled his conviction, ruling the process illegal because concealing campaign donations was not a crime at the time and prosecutors failed to prove the funds came from illicit sources.
