Suspended SAPS Organised Crime Unit member Sergeant Fannie Nkosi.
The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has dismissed the bail appeal of suspended SAPS Organised Crime Unit Sergeant Fannie Nkosi, who is accused of possession of illegal weapons and stolen police dockets.
Prosecutor Trott Mphalele previously argued that Nkosi was a flight risk, noting that a raid on his home uncovered six missing dockets that had effectively paralysed multiple criminal investigations.
Defence attorney Hendrik Potgieter’s argument that the lower court ignored the presumption of innocence failed to sway the High Court, which upheld the original April ruling.
Nkosi is a central figure at the Madlanga Commission, which is probing his alleged role as a middleman between underworld figure Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala and suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya.
