A Las Vegas jury on Monday (August 31) found an ex-gang leader guilty of murder in a case accusing him of masterminding the drive-by killing of legendary hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur, bringing a decades-old cold case to a close. Duane “Keffe D” Davis, 63, a former high-ranking member of the South Side Compton Crips, was convicted of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon after about three hours of deliberation. Prosecutors said Davis helped plan the retaliatory September 7, 1996 shooting near the Las Vegas Strip and provided the gun used in the attack, though he did not personally fire the shots.
