Paramount+ has just dropped the teaser for the third season of Lioness, the “intense, female-led espionage thriller” starring box office star Zoe Saldaña and Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman. The series was created by Taylor Sheridan and centres “hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals…” as they “collide.” It focuses on a CIA team of women, known as the lionesses, who go undercover to take on the war on terror.

Additional powerhouse cast members include Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Genesis Rodriguez, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, Hannah Love Lanier and Ian Bohen.

The third season will see Saldaña’s Joe as she “walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world” and stumbles into “patterns [which] appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish, and paths rearrange“.

“Guided by Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Westfield (Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.”

Lioness is executive produced by Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski and Keith Cox.

Season one of Lioness debuted in July 2023, while season two debuted in October 2024. The show holds a 7.8/10 IMDb score. Its premise draws inspiration from events in Iraq in 2003, which saw a band of women soldiers sent out as a prevention tactic to stop insurgents smuggling cargo using women, as Muslim women were challenging male US vets.

Lioness Season 3 is available on Paramount+ from August 2nd.
