Worldwide export sales for insulated wire and cable by country totaled US$200.5 billion in 2025.

The overall value of insulated wire and cable exports increased by an average 32.1% for all exporting countries from five years earlier in 2021 when insulated wire and cable shipments were valued at $151.7 billion.

Year over year, the world’s exports of insulated wire and cable accelerated by 16% compared to $172.8 billion for 2024.

The 5 biggest exporters of insulated wire and cable are mainland China, Mexico, United States of America, Germany and Vietnam. Collectively, that major cohort of suppliers was responsible for 46.1% of overall sales for globally exported insulated wire and cable during 2025.

Among continents, countries in Asia exported 41% of the global total for all insulated wire and cable sales. In second place was Europe at 32.9% ahead of North America accounting for another 17.2%.

Smaller percentages were recorded by suppliers in Africa (6.3%), Latin America (2.3%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, then Oceania (0.1%) led by Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

For research purposes, the 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System code prefix is 8544 for insulated wire and cable.

Below are the 15 countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of insulated wires and cables during 2025.

  2. Mexico: $19.6 billion (9.8%)
  3. United States: $13.9 billion (6.9%)
  4. Germany: $10.6 billion (5.3%)
  5. Vietnam: $10 billion (5%)
  6. Morocco: $6.2 billion (3.1%)
  7. Hong Kong: $5.2 billion (2.6%)
  8. Italy: $5.1 billion (2.5%)
  9. Czech Republic: $4.8 billion (2.4%)
  10. South Korea: $4.6 billion (2.3%)
  11. Türkiye: $4.57 billion (2.3%)
  12. Poland: $4.53 billion (2.3%)
  13. Romania: $4.13 billion (2.1%)
  14. Hungary: $3.94 billion (2%)

By value, the listed 15 countries shipped over two-thirds (69.6%) of globally exported insulated wire and cable in 2025.

Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing exporters of insulated wire and cable since 2024 were: Hong Kong (up 70.7%), Vietnam (up 36.4%), Tunisia (up 31%) and Hungary (up 29.4%).

Those countries that recorded the lowest year-over-year upturns in their international sales of insulated wire and cable were: Romania (up 2.9%), Germany (up 6.7%), Poland (up 7%), South Korea (up 7.3%) and Italy (up 7.5%).

The United States of America incurred the highest deficit in the international trade of insulated wire and cable.
