Managing Director of KPTCL and Dharwad district in-charge Secretary Ram Prasath Manohar V. has directed officials to give high priority to development of villages along with development of cities.

Chairing a meeting to review progress of Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) in Dharwad on June 11, he said that real development is in development of villages, and work that facilitates the comprehensive development of every village in the district should be undertaken.

Senior officials from various departments briefed the meeting about the progress in the respective projects.

Mr. Ram Prasath told them to give priority to quality in execution of work, and that officials discharge their duties responsibly.

“VB-G RAM Gi scheme will be implemented from July 1 instead of the earlier MGNREGA scheme. Necessary steps should be taken to implement the new scheme. Officials should personally visit villages, and take the initiative to inspect the progress of work. PDOs should supervise the work being carried out in gram panchayats,” he said.

Mr. Ram Prasath told officials to ensure that farmers had no complaints. “Government schemes should be made available to eligible beneficiaries. The authorities concerned should take steps to provide clean drinking water, quality food, and good education to students in hostels. Priority should be given to creating a clean environment in hostels,” he said.

Emphasising the need for taking precautionary steps to prevent electrical mishaps during the rainy season, he told HESCOM officials to ensure that weak or damaged electric poles were replaced immediately, and steps were taken to provide regular power supply in rural areas.
