Bits & Bobs

New products that are worth highlighting but didn’t make the Dispatch…

Reynolds Trail Pro Alloy Wheels

$750 at Reynolds

Reynolds Trail Wheels

Reynolds, known primarily for its carbon rims, just released an alloy lineup of rims and wheels. They stick to a pretty straightforward formula, but the Trail (TR) wheels stand out as the most relevant option for everyday riding and bikepacking use. They’re built around welded 6069 aluminum rims with a 32mm internal width, which is right in the sweet spot for 2.4–2.8” tires. Like the rest of the range, they’re available in both 27.5” and 29”, use 28 straight-pull spokes front and rear, and are laced to Ringlé hubs (Super Bubba X on PRO builds), with compatibility across HG, XD, and Microspline freehubs.

Compared to the burlier Enduro and DH options, the Trail wheels trim a bit of weight, landing around the mid-1,900-gram range for a 29” set. Details like welded seams, 6-bolt rotor compatibility, and a lifetime warranty round out the package, making them appear to be a solid, no-nonsense option. Based on the spec sheet, the Trail Pro set (A327/A329) hits a particularly compelling middle ground that’s wide enough and reasonably priced for riders who split time between loaded trips and everyday singletrack miles. The A329 (29er) weighs a claimed 1,843 grams.

Omnium Nanos are Here

Made in Taiwan / €2,420 complete at Omnium

Omnium Nano

Teased in a dispatch last month, the new OMNIUM Nano is now in stock and shipping from their headquarters in Copenhagen. As the Danish brand’s most compact cargo platform to date, the Nano rolls on a pair of 20-inch wheels with 2.15″ tires and features a super short wheelbase for snappy handling and ease of getting up to speed. It’s available as a frame kit or complete bike in one size and two colors.

Revelate Designs Ultra Joey

Made in USA / $90 at Revelate Designs

Revelate Designs updated the Joey downtube bag last year, adding two sizes, and it’s now 100% waterproof, thanks to a welded-seam construction. They just launched a version made with Challenge Ultra 200X fabric, which is highly abrasion- and tear-resistant. It’s only available in the 2L version, so those riding gravel bikes might want to check out the slimmer 1L model. Find our review here.

Orbea Kimu Range for Kids

€499+ at Orbea

“Start Small. Ride Big.” is the slogan for Orbea’s new Kimu range, which comprises four fresh models for young riders from ages 3-12. The line features parts made for kids, components that grow to extend the bike’s lifespan, and models that transform from push bike to pedaling and aims to help kids fall in love with riding—from wobbly first glides on up to the thrill of riding trails.

Growtac Brakes and Levers are Back in Stock

Made in Japan / $405 at Velo Orange

Growth Brakes

Growtac Equal brake calipers are back in stock at Velo Orange, the US distributor for the brand. Everything from the post mount and flat mount versions to brake pads, adaptors, and even their friction-shifting Growtac Equal Brake Levers is available for purchase.

Chiru VELDT

Made in Taiwan / €3,910 at Chiru Bikes

Chiru VELDT

It’s unofficially 32-inch bike launch week, and the new Chiru VELDT is the third model we’ve shared this week. The VELDT is a titanium 32-inch gravel bike with a matching titanium fork, clearance for 2.4″ tires, multiple bottle mounts, and fully internal cable routing. It’s available in only two sizes and costs €3,910 (~$4,500 USD) for a frame, fork, and headset. The bike shown weighs 19.8 pounds (9 kilograms), and it looks like something straight out of Tron.

Outider TL Mini on Kickstarter

Made in USA / $55+ at Kickstarter

The new Outider TL Mini is a real-time tire pressure monitoring system that fits securely inside your tubeless tires. The TL Mini is an iteration of the TL Pro model that’s lighter, smaller, and more refined. Unlike external sensors, it installs inside the tire on your existing valve stems, helping riders dial in their setup, monitor pressure on the trail, and stay safe with instant flat alerts. It can pair with your phone, watch, or headunit for real-time alerts, and it’s designed to work with most aftermarket tubeless valves.

Surly Lowside in Blue Monday

Made in Taiwan / $1,799 at Surly Bikes

Surly Lowside Blue Monday

The latest Surly Lowside features a fresh Blue Monday paint job with a color-matched Surly handlebar, silver components, and Maxxis Rekon 2.8″ tires. The Lowside is a BMX-inspired single-speed hardtail that is, as Surly puts it, “Just as happy riding singletrack as it is parked outside your favorite drinking establishment.”

Wish We Were Here

Shedding a little light on a route one of us is dreaming about riding at the moment…

Lucas Winzenburg: Close to Home

Aspen Ridge Overnighter Buena Vista to Salida

This week, rather than dreaming of some faraway location, I’m anticipating a fall colors tour with my wife just a few hours down the road on the Aspen Ridge Overnighter between Buena Vista and Salida here in Colorado. It’s one of several nearby routes I’m already excitedly making arrangements to ride this year as I turn my lens a little closer to home and enjoy the incredible collection of weekend and overnight routes on the map. Thanks for designing it, Neil!
