From AI Concept to Customer-Ready Feature

The broader modernization initiative is still in its early stages, with the effort expected to evolve over the next year. One early example is Euna Budget’s AI Search, an AI-powered feature, for Euna’s OpenBook budget book platform. In December 2025, AWS led a two-day, hands-on workshop with the OpenBook development team. During the session, the team moved from an initial idea to a working proof of concept that ultimately became the foundation for OpenBook AI Search.

The feature allows residents and council members to ask plain-language questions about a government budget book and receive immediate answers with citations to the underlying information. Within months, the proof of concept became a customer-ready capability available to Euna Budget customers.

The project demonstrates the development approach Euna plans to apply to future initiatives: combining AWS technology and expertise with Euna’s public sector domain knowledge to move promising ideas into practical capabilities more quickly.
