The evening was split into three moments: ceremony in the courtyard, a dinner, followed by an outdoor DJ set by four huge names on the music scene.

An amp system was set up in anticipation, with diffusers pointed towards the estate and the villa park to limit sound waves travelling into the nearby town of Bagheria.

Dua and Callum’s decision to hold their second wedding in Palermo has been dubbed a “great honour”.

“For us, having Dua Lipa’s wedding here is a great honour, and the welcome they will receive will promote the city on the international stage,” said Anonio Rini, from Palermo Council’s tourism department.

“Several international artists will be arriving in Palermo for the wedding, and this is a great return for the city.”

Dua and Callum are staying in the Donna Franca Suite of their five-star hotel, Villa Igiea, which is described as the “crowning jewel” of the hotel. The most luxurious suite goes for more than £6,000 per night.

It “offers spacious privacy in fresh, contemporary surrounds adorned in local artwork with a separate living room and the added luxury of a breezy sea-view terrace, outfitted with lounges and sunbeds perfect for leisurely mornings and relaxing afternoons”.

Many of their wedding guests are also reported to be staying at the hotel.

Dua and Callum’s wedding has no shortage of celeb guests. Charli XCX and her husband George Daniels are in attendance, alongside Joe Alwyn and Donatella Versace.

Music producer Mark Ronson and his wife Grace Gummer have also flown out to Italy to celebrate the newlyweds.

Some local businesses were angry they had to shut up shop early on a Friday evening - one of the most popular nights for going out in Palermo.

Reports even claimed that Dua paid £5,000 to residents to compensate those who live in apartments overlooking areas where there’ll be extra parking for the wedding.

Some obscene graffiti was spotted ahead of the wedding fest, reading: “Palermo is not for rent.” It was very quickly painted over.

A ring of steel was thrown up around the Sicilian villa, with metal barriers put up on side roads leading to the venue. A no drone fly zone has also been set up, and locals won’t be able to see the guests during the lavish three-day event.

Security has been so tight that at one point, a group of pensioners sitting in shade close to the villa entrance were asked to move on, including an elderly gentleman who had to be helped with his zimmer frame by police.

On Friday, a heavy police presence was seen around the Palazzo Gangi ahead of the cocktail reception for the couple and their guests.

Although Dua’s wedding dress has been a well-kept secret, it’s rumoured to have been designed by Atelier Versace, and Dua’s good friend, Donatella Versace.

On Friday night, the songstress sported a backless Bottega Veneta gown, paired with a £2580 Bottego Anidamo leather clutch and Bulgari jewels - including a classic £185,000 Manchette watch.

The ceremony kicked off at 5pm and lasted around an hour, with guests arriving from 3.30pm transported in 60 minivans. Callum and Dua turned up in a luxury Mercedes Maybach Class V at 3pm on the dot to greet their guests. After the ceremony, a posh dinner is expected to be laid on by a two-Michelin star chef.

Catering has been provided by local chef Tony Lo Coco who told the Daily Mail the food will be “traditional Sicilian”.

It has been revealed that the couple have got married once again today in their £1.5 million wedding extravaganza.

The bridal bouquet included some beautiful flowers from a local florist, including lily-of-the-valley, peonies and hyacinths. As the pair did their vow renewal, Elton is believed to have sung the track 'Your Song'.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Callum said: "We sat next to each other and realised we were reading the same book, which is crazy. It's called Trust, and I had just finished the first chapter, and I told her, and she looked at me and said, 'I just finished the first chapter too.' I said, 'So we're on the same page.'"

Describing their first interaction, the actor said it felt like a Hollywood romance. He said: "In the movie version of it, I look up to the sky and I'm like, I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don't worry. And that was really the first [moment]."

The principal Sicilian venue for the main wedding ceremony is Villa Valguarnera in Bagheria. This breathtaking 18th-century palace is celebrated for its quintessential Sicilian Baroque architecture, imposing grandeur, and sweeping vistas. The estate provides a truly dramatic setting for the couple's centrepiece occasion.

The magnificent location carries a colourful and turbulent past. During the 1980s, the Baroque palace was seized by Cosa Nostra mafia bosses, who notoriously allowed a wild boar to roam freely through the ballroom and had a statue airlifted out of the gardens by helicopter.

The estate was courageously reclaimed by Italian Princess Vittoria Alliata di Villafranca, who successfully expelled the mob. Local authorities point out that Dua's nuptials are actively contributing to transforming the area's reputation from a "mafia hotspot" into a cultural beacon.
