A total of 27 persons indulging in indecent acts in public places were arrested by the Cyberbad SHE Teams during a series of decoy operations conducted between June 6 and June 11.
According to the Cyberabad Women and Child Safety Wing, SHE Teams carried out 101 decoy operations across the commissionerate during the week. Of the 27 persons caught red-handed, 21 were booked in petty cases, while the remaining individuals were counselled.
The wing also received 14 complaints from women through various channels during the period.
In separate operations, the Cyberabad Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) rescued two victims and arrested five accused persons in two cases registered under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA). The unit also rescued three boys and arrested one person in a case registered under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Officials said family counselling centres and Centres for Domestic and Emotional Well-being (CDEW) facilitated the resolution of disputes in 36 families involving husbands and wives.
As part of its preventive and outreach initiatives, the wing conducted awareness programmes on issues including human trafficking, child trafficking, eve-teasing, social media harassment, child marriage, child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, cyberbullying and cyber fraud.
A total of 2,421 people participated in the programmes, where officials also highlighted the importance of emergency helplines, including Women Helpline 181, Childline 1098, Dial 100 and the cybercrime helpline 1930.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women and Child Safety Wing) K. Srujana said the enforcement and awareness drives were aimed at improving the safety of women and children and preventing crimes through early intervention and public awareness.
