A 27-year-old St. Catharines man faces multiple charges after being stopped by police for speeding.

A Brant OPP officer conducting speed enforcement stopped a speeding vehicle at about 8 a.m. on August 16 on Highway 403 West near the Jerseyville Road overpass.

The driver was taken into custody and charged with the alleged offences: operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80; operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance; speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit; drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit; and drive motor vehicle – no licence.

A 20-year-old driver from Paris has been charged following a traffic stop at about 8:30 p.m. on August 16.

A Brant OPP officer stopped the vehicle on Grand River Street North at Silver Street, and determined the driver had no licence plates or insurance.

The accused has been charged with the alleged offences: owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance; drive motor vehicle, no plates; operate unsafe vehicle; and have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage.

A 38-year-old Paris resident has been charged as the result of an investigation into an incident of intimate partner violence.

Brant OPP were called to a county residence at about 5:30 a.m. on August 15 after receiving a report of an incident involving two persons. Following an investigation, the accused was charged with the alleged offence of assault – spousal and was released on an adult undertaking.

Later that day at about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a separate, similar incident at another county residence.

Through investigation, a 32-year-old Brant County resident was charged with the alleged offence of assault – spousal.
