Bruno Guimaraes got his first runout at the Emirates and scored a penalty as Arsenal’s pre-season continued with a shootout win against Italian side Como.

The £75m signing from Newcastle played the second half of a competitive enough friendly as Arsenal fans welcomed midfielders new and old.

Como achieved their best-ever finish in Serie A last season under ex-Arsenal favourite Cesc Fabregas, coming fourth to achieve Champions League qualification.

Fabregas won the FA Cup in 2005 and reached the 2006 Champions League and 2007 EFL Cup finals during his time as an Arsenal midfielder between 2003 and 2011.

Gabriel Jesus and Eberechi Eze only played 32 minutes before being replaced as Mikel Arteta looked after his squad.

And moments later Lewis-Skelly struck, side-footing home after an error at the back from Como saw a clearance charged down.

The full-back turned midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Gunners this summer but celebrated by touching the badge on his shirt and praying to the fans.

The Italian side were able to level before the break as Martin Baturina fired in after some lovely footwork.

Guimaraes was introduced at half-time, with fellow substitute Noni Madueke going close in a scrappier second period.

Kai Havertz had the ball in the net late on but it was ruled out before the sides took on a shootout after a 1-1 draw.

England defender Trevoh Chalobah, who signed from Chelsea last week, was on the bench for Como alongside the likes of former Spain forward Alvaro Morata.

Morata was off target, along with Madueke, before new signing Christos Tzolis fired in the winner.

Arsenal now take on Enzo Maresca and Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday.
