Two students are dead following the second school shooting in the Southern Philippines in less than two months. Police were on scene where the shooting occurred Tuesday, at a school in Zamboanga City that is attached to a privately owned university. The two deceased are a student in the tenth grade and the gunman, who was in the ninth grade. Philippine National Police confirmed the deaths, and City Councillor Frederick Arilano says, “some students were treated for injuries… sustained while trying to escape.” No other students have been reported to have gunshot wounds. In June, two students opened fire at a public high school in the Central Philippines. Three students were killed, and around 20 others were injured.
